BALTIMORE, MD, January 13, 2003 -- Two established
leaders in the court reporting profession-Court
Reporting Concepts, Inc. and Salomon
Reporting Service, Inc.-today announced the formation of a new
alliance that will provide enhanced litigation support
services to clients nationwide.
Called CRC-Salomon, the newly created alliance
will initially focus on the delivery of court reporting and deposition
services. It also brings together two well-established companies
in the court reporting field that combined deliver more than 114
years of specialization, yet historically have served different
segments of the legal community.
Court Reporting
Concepts, Inc., (CRC), was established in 1995 by E. Duane Smith
to fill a technological void in the Baltimore/Washington freelance
reporting market. Since that
time, Mr. Smith, who is a Registered Professional Reporter and one
of only 1,000 Certified Realtime Reporters in the United States,
has grown the firm into a recognized provider of high-quality, rapidly
delivered, competitively-priced court reporting services-all backed
by a state-of-the-art technological infrastructure and his team's
ongoing commitment to exceptional customer service.
The other part of the alliance is Salomon
Reporting Service, Inc., which has established a rich tradition
in providing integrity, quality and service in court reporting services
for more than a century. Founded in 1898, the firm today remains
not only Maryland's oldest court reporting firm but also one of
the very oldest in the entire country. The firm's success has been
driven by its CEO, Nancy Banister, who, along with her husband Price,
have been involved in court reporting in Baltimore for 45 years.
Guided by an unwavering focus on client service and integrity, the
firm has stayed at the forefront of technological advances and was
the first to introduce realtime technology to Baltimore in 1993.
Serving as CEO of CRC-Salomon will be E. Duane
Smith, who is currently the Vice President of the National
Court Reporters Association. In making today's announcement,
he stated, "The affiliation of CRC and Salomon Reporting brings
together two like-minded companies that can truly leverage their
respective strengths to deliver the very best in court reporting
and deposition work to legal clients of all sizes and types. We
believe CRC-Salomon is well positioned from the outset to set new
standards for quality, timeliness, and service in the delivery of
high-tech, high-quality court reporting services - not only in the
Baltimore and Washington, D.C., region but across Virginia, Maryland,
and the rest of the country. I am also extremely pleased to be working
with Nancy Banister, whose reputation for integrity and professionalism
is without parallel."
Also commenting today was Nancy Banister, who stated,
"I believe our new affiliation is not only a win for Salomon
Reporting but certainly a major plus for the combined CRC-Salomon
client base. Duane is an extremely dedicated and skilled professional
whose leadership and client-focus is well recognized. I look forward
to helping this alliance prosper and grow."
